THE PURPOSE OF GOD IN HIS CREATION, Part II by Roger Roth Sr.
This is an astounding day in the increased manifestation of God. As the veil between the Kingdom’s of God and the Kingdom’s of the earth diminishes the reality of the heavenly realms become more and more apparent.
The Ages/Generations of creation in decreasing length are broken down into Times or Eras (as in; the times of refreshing; acts 3:19; which in His times He shall show; 1 Tim 6:15; times of the gentiles; Lk 21:24, etc.), Day or Days (as in the days of Noah; Mt. 24:37; the day of the Lord; 2 Pt 3:10; to see my day; Jn 8:56) Hour or Hours, as in, (my hour has not yet come, Jn 2:4; whole from that hour, Mt 9:22; the hour of his judgment, Rev 14:7). These are not earthly time measurements but heavenly periods that carry specific meanings.
At the transition of one age into another age there is a great spiritual shift that reorders and escalates the purpose of God. This occurred in the days leading up to 70 AD when an earlier age passed away and it is occurring again today.
The things of an age that are passing away become very clear as the things of the coming age begin to unfold. We are living in such a time as this. This is why heavenly encounters escalate and the nearness of God becomes a constant and increasing reality. This is not the case for all but only for those who are awakening. The very fact that there is a spiritual transition, means that some see and are aware and some are not, but all eventually will.
As there was a Kingdom of Israel and a Kingdom of Judah and as there was the City of Jerusalem and the City of David (Zion) and as there was a small portion of those who were taken captive out of Israel that returned 70 years later, so there is within the people of God, a subgroup or remnant. The transition of the old age into the new age with the arrival of Jesus was not heralded by all but first by the few, the seed from which all of Christianity eventually grew.
We are of this seed in our day if we take caution not to return to the slumber of combative doctrines, competitive strivings and pride that spawns separation, self-exaltation and personal agendas. These will put us back into a spiritual siesta faster than a heavy dose of Nyquil. You are the seed of this coming age if you are willing to be planted. There is a process and there is a cost.
Listen carefully: Unless a grain of wheat is buried in the ground, dead to the world, it is never any more than a grain of wheat. But if it is buried, it sprouts and reproduces itself many times over. In the same way, anyone who holds on to life just as it is destroys that life. But if you let it go, reckless in your love, you’ll have it forever, real and eternal; Jn 12:24 MSG.
Unless we let God plant us, our full purpose cannot come. But if we are planted then we can reproduce. This is not the reproduction often associated with salvation but the reproducing of the nature of Jesus in us and through us into others. To receive Jesus, as that is commonly understood, is one level of relationship but to become as Jesus is, is a much higher reality but it only comes to those who are willing to be buried – to those who long for and reach for wholeness with all their heart.
We can abide alone, as Jesus said the seed that refuses planting would do. Alone in our fears of life, alone in our efforts to bring the full reality of Jesus to a lost world, alone in the isolation of our pain and wounds or we can put down pride, petty hurts, self-will and separation and rise as a mighty corporate Body of Christ. The choice is ours and it is a choice that is not easily made by our flesh.
For there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few; 1 Sam. 14:6. God is not looking for a majority but whether large or small, a remnant of people refined as seed to do His will.
For our grain of wheat to fall into the ground and die, it will have to be a conscious and determined effort. It will not happen just because of a half-hearted desire but because we seek for it with all our heart. In large part, the discovery will be what we give to and what we receive from each other. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart; Jer 29:13.
This year God has done precious and glorious transformation in our midst. The very fact that we are in search of the fullness of the Body of Christ is a sign of His blessing. In our search for the fulness of His Body let us endeavor to see our life from His vantagepoint and our purpose within His purpose. The miraculous occurrences are wonderful but the reality of Jesus in His Body is even greater.
Only if we believe will we truly see. If we believe in what He has told us. If we believe unto the appearing of the Body. If we believe that we are part of the remnant to bring forth the whole. If we believe in the awakening of the spiritual tabernacle of God in the earth. If we believe in the purpose of the Body. If we believe wholeness is an attainable goal. If we believe in the victory of spirit over soul. If we believe in the vision.
But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul; Heb 10:39. We are of them (the corporate Body) that believe to the saving (deliverance) of the soul (the transformation from the ignorance, fears and apprehensions and misgivings of our mind) into the confidence, joy, reality and wholeness of His Spirit.
To understand the eternal purpose of God I must seek to see all things through His eyes. All things that are created are created with purpose. No one works toward the making or creating of anything without a purpose of some kind. Every activity of mankind reveals this truth.
We make knives with the purpose to cut. We sing songs with the purpose to sooth or encourage or celebrate or to worship. We build schools for the purpose of education. We drill for oil for the purpose of supplying energy. We have hospitals for the purpose of healing. All activities of mankind originate in purpose. Some purposes may be beneficial and some harmful but no activity is done without the initiation of purpose.
God, likewise does nothing without purpose. In studying what He has created and asking why it has been created as it is, we begin to discover His purposes for ourselves, for us as a Body and His purpose for all creation.
After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, (the awakening of the spiritual tabernacle of God in the earth) which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, (it was once here and it has and is returning) and I will set it up: That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things, (this is the purpose of the spiritual tabernacle, in this is the purpose for our Body at ALM). Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world (God has purpose in all He does, and we can know and participate in that purpose); Acts 15:16-18
God created planets and quasars and star clusters and dark matter and light and heat and trees and minerals and insects and electromagnetism and DNA and all life forms and mankind AND ALL OF IT HAS PURPOSE AND ALL OF IT REVEALS HIS ETERNAL PURPOSE.
If I lived in the 18th Century and was suddenly transported to today, the technology would amaze me. Things I had never seen or would have no way of understanding would be all around me. If I considered one of these modern marvels long enough I would eventually discover its purpose by studying its design and function.
I would see, for example, a metal pole that had red, yellow and green lights that turned on and off at regular intervals. Since they would be located on street corners I would probably surmise that it was somehow connected to the streets. If I observed their operation during periods of traffic, I would see cars stopping when the lights were red and proceeding when the lights were green. I may rightly understand that their purpose would be to control traffic at the intersection.
If I viewed their operation long enough I’d even come to see the meaning of the yellow lights or why people on foot would cross the street at certain times and wait at other times. The reason I could acquire this understanding about the stop light is that I understand all things have purpose and by observing operation and function or in the case of non-material things such as kindness observing cause and effect. Given enough time and information I could discover the purpose of all created things.
So, it stands to reason that if the world appears as it does there must be a purpose for why it is the way it is. A purpose for having two hands and not three. A purpose for having one heart but two lungs. A purpose for laughter and for weeping; a purpose for good and evil, for life and even for death. Now if I understand that all things were made by Him and without him was nothing made that was made; (Jn 1;3, Col 1:16) then I know that in observing His creation I can discover His purpose.
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse; Rm 1:20. This scripture tells me that if I discover the purpose behind the things God has created, then I can even understand things that do not fall into the realm of the material existence.
Invisible things become clearly seen by understanding the purpose of visible things. I understand the birth of the spirit by studying wind (you can’t tell where the wind comes from or where it goes so is everyone born of the spirit). I understand Jesus by studying rock, (He is the rock of my salvation, the rock that followed them in the wilderness). I understand the role of faith in creating the Kingdom by observing how a large mustard tree grows from a small seed, (if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed).
Using this process, we can even understand the eternal power and godhead and notice the Apostle Paul says there is no excuse for lacking this understanding. See also Ps 19:1-6 and notice how in verses 7 onward the study of the purpose of the first 6 verses, give understanding to God’s commandments, law, statutes and the fear of the Lord. By seeing His purpose in one we understand His purpose in the other.
How has the way He made us both physically and emotionally, a window on our purpose? How does what He has told us as a Body provide understanding to our purpose?
Did God create a world, allowing for the possibility of mankind’s failure and then when they failed God, did His ultimate purpose become mankind’s restoration? Is this God’s ultimate purpose or is this a process leading to His ultimate purpose?
The Bible tells us that our existence did not originate with our birth but preceded it. According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, Eph. 1:4-5. See also, 2 Thes. 2:13; Rm. 8:29; Rev. 13:8. Thus indicating that His purpose for us not only predated our birth but that being adopted as His children, our purpose must also be a family or Body purpose.
He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not because of our own works, but by His own purpose and by the grace He granted us in Christ Jesus before time eternal, 2 Tim. 1:9. God called us according to His own purpose which He gave to us before the world began. This was not about what we did but what God purposed for us. Something happened before our natural birth that is central to our purpose and to our future.
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations, Jer. 1:5. Jeremiah’s purpose was determined by God before His birth. Before his birth God had both set him apart and ordained him to be a prophet to the nations. Now Jeremiah is being called to go forth in his purpose. When we read the remaining verses of chapter one we see how God gives him specific instructions related to his purpose.
We too have been known by God. For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, Rm. 8:29. We are to become conformed to His image, (His nature, His way of thinking, His way of acting, His way of serving, His way of loving). This is part of our purpose.
God places people in our lives. We sometimes think that people enter and exit our lives by mere coincidence, but God orchestrates these relationships even ones that may cause us pain. He doesn’t create the pain in turbulent relationships, people do that, but He arranges all things with purpose. To some reading this, Mark Hanby is or has been an instrumental force as he has been in my life and by virtue of connection with many who are in my life as well. Did this occur by accident or by purpose?
The Apostle Paul at one-time tortured Christians, was befriended by Barnabas, was joined in ministry by Silas, was subjected to a skeptical Festus and was sentenced to death by an un-awakened Cesar. Were these accidental interactions or were they forged by divine purpose? Do you see all things in your life, even those that may be perceived as unwelcomed, as being connected to His purpose?
