“THE FABRIC BY WHICH WE SEE GOD” by Karen A Roth
DREAM: We are standing in a field anticipating a spiritual visitation. The first telltale sign of His coming could be seen in a whirlwind of swirling tall grasses. The more I spoke about what I saw happening, the more clarity came, and I began seeing what had been invisible. I saw Jesus standing beside us. Another woman began sharing her encounter—feeling the gentle prod of His touch on her shoulders and as she testified, she too had the ability to see what had been invisible.
Jesus gave me a key to drive His vehicle. But first, I suggest that He make Himself more visible so everyone can ‘see’ Him. He wears the clothes I offered. Walking down the driveway I notice an oil stain on His work clothes and comment, “If You dressed more like a King, people would have a much easier time believing You are one!” Jesus turned to look at me and said, “… you dressed Me.”
I put the key Jesus gave me into the ignition of my car, and it didn’t work—and then it dawned on me, “Oh, this key is for when I get to drive Your car.” Jesus then guided me to His vehicle.
INTERPRETATON: God revealed that if we testify of what we perceive happening in the Spirit, we will gain clarity. But His personal words astonished me. I had considered the clothes I offered Jesus embodied the principle of “Such as I have, I give.” Yet my seemingly sensible actions revealed a startling truth. I dressed God, not as the Mighty Warrior King He is, but as a servant. I definitely need to work on changing the ‘fabric’ of my testimony to Jesus as King and not my Servant.
It is surprising for me to think I could drive ‘my’ car with His key and believe God wanted me to get better performance levels—like God bless ‘my’ plans. It made me wonder if maybe it’s similar to Israel taking the Ark onto the battlefield so it would make them winners.
= TRANSPORTING THE ARK OF GOD
The historical account of Israel straying from ‘Proper Order’ began in a fateful instance. At that time, Israel didn’t have any king. They launched a war against the Philistines without seeking divine guidance—a horrible decision that backfired when they found themselves in retreat. Out of desperation, they brought the Ark onto the battlefield, assuming that God’s Presence by their side would make them invincible. Unfortunately, the outcome proved disastrous: Israel suffered defeat, and shockingly, God chose to dwell with their adversaries.
Seven months later, Saul became king of Israel, but he never considered bringing the Ark back. About seven years after David began reigning as king—the Philistines attacked Israel. God told David to listen for “the sound of marching in the tops of the Mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the LORD will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” (2 SM 5:24) God helped Israel win the battle.
More than anything, David desired the Ark of God brought back to Israel. One of the reasons he may have been thinking about the Ark could be because the Philistines had taken it twenty years earlier (1SM 6:1; 7:2) as the spoils of war—and now it was Israel’s turn to reap the spoils. He considered the quest a military operation—not even knowing there was a ‘Proper Order’ for transporting the Ark of the Mighty Warrior King of Israel.
Since the Levites were not sure where the Ark was located, David first sent his scouts and they found it in Kirjah-Jearim. Thirty-thousand warriors were selected for the operation, mirroring the fallen casualties from the disastrous Philistine battle years earlier. David replicated an ox-drawn cart that the Philistines used to transport the Ark back to Israel’s border (after God plagued them with tumors for seven months). As the procession of David’s army moved forward, a mishap occurred—the oxen upset the cart. Uzzah’s instinctive act of reaching out to steady the Ark, while not premeditated, was in violation of the Law. God struck Uzzah dead, underscoring the grave consequences of deviating from ‘Proper Order.’
= ‘PROPER ORDER’
At first David was angry. How could a kind gesture towards God, borne out of good intentions, end with death? But if he blamed God for wrongdoing, he would be charging Him with injustice—and he knew God was Just.
A humbling awaited David that compelled him to seek God’s ‘Proper Order’ for relocating the Ark. Three months later, David again prepared to transport the Ark. This time he included the Levitical priesthood and commanded them to consecrate themselves …“that you may bring up the Ark of the LORD God of Israel to the place I have prepared for it. For, because you did not do it the first time, The LORD our God broke out against us, because we did not consult Him about the ‘Proper Order.’” ~1 CH 15:12-13
This time, not just a token of the military assembled, but all their military, Levitical Priesthood, along with the entire nation of Israel met at “the house of Obed-Edom, the Gittite.” The Levites led the way. Six steps were taken, and an offering of oxen and fatted sheep was offered—consecrating the twelve-mile procession to Jerusalem. At the seventh step they stopped, and jubilant worship erupted—trumpets blared, voices soared, and a chorus of joyous cries enveloped the procession of the Ark of God—the Mighty Warrior King was returning to Israel!
= COVERINGS
When the camp prepares to journey, Aaron and his sons shall come, and they shall take down the covering veil and cover the ark of the Testimony with it. Then they shall put on it a covering of badger skins, and spread over that a cloth entirely of blue; and they shall insert poles… the sons of Kohath are to carry them; but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die. ~ NU 4:5-6
Clothing generally gives an indication of one’s personality, status, occupation, etc. Whenever the Ark was transported, it first was covered with a Veil, followed by Badger Skins, and a Blue Cloth on the outside.
The Veil represented holiness, a separation between God’s Presence and humanity. Only the high priest was allowed to enter the Holy of Holies, where the Ark was kept, and only one day a year on the Day of Atonement, or if God chose to move His Resting Place in the Wilderness.
The Badger Skins were patched or sewn together as a temporary protection from exposure to cover the Ark of the Testimony and symbolized protection and concealment. They shielded the Ark from external elements, such as dust and rain, during the Israelites’ travels in the wilderness. Metaphorically, Badger Skins can be seen as God’s protection over His people, preserving them from harm and keeping His Presence secure.
The Blue Cloth was placed over the Badger Skins and was visible for all to see. Blue symbolizes heavenly or divine attributes, such as God’s Authority and Sovereignty over Israel.
Together, these coverings served both practical and symbolic purposes, emphasizing the blessedness, protection, and heavenly authority associated with the Ark of the Testimony—God’s Presence among His people.
= A LINEN EPHOD
Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great: You are clothed with honor and majesty, Who cover Yourself with light as with a garment, Who stretch out the heavens like a curtain. ~ PS 104:1-2
In a breathtaking display, David danced before the Lord with unbridled fervor. He was humbly dressed in a linen ephod. He worshiped before the Ark, not as Israel’s king—but as a servant in ‘Proper Order’ before the LORD God, the Mighty Warrior King of Israel!
In Psalm 104, David wrote about the structure of the world. It honors the creation of all things, of the heavens and the earth, and all the creatures in them… and of the providence of God in taking care of them. David tells his soul to bless the LORD and praises God for His might and greatness.
In the visionary verses in the New Testament, the heavenly temple swung open, revealing the Ark of God within. Amid this awe-inspiring sight, even nature itself responded with a crescendo of recognition: lightnings, noises, thunder, earthquakes, and great hail. ~ RV 11:19
= THE TORN VEIL
In Solomon’s Temple, the Ark and Mercy Seat rested concealed behind a Veil. However, during the Babylonian captivity, it vanished—reportedly hidden by the prophet Jeremiah. When Israel eventually returned, the whereabouts of the Ark remained a mystery, and it remained missing from the Temple.
Many years later, a momentous event unfolded in Herod’s Temple, even though there was nothing behind the Veil. It was at the crucifixion of Jesus that the Veil dramatically tore apart, symbolizing that the Veil itself represented Christ’s flesh. This extraordinary act marked the full revelation of God’s love and mercy.
As the sixty-foot-high Veil tore, seemingly pulled from heaven to earth and unraveled from top to bottom, it became a symbol of the path forged by Jesus’ sacrificial death. With the Veil torn asunder, the way to God now stood open and accessible—allowing humanity to stand face-to-face with God. The torn Veil became a testament to the possibility of every man’s communion with God.
The once-existent chasm dissolved, and we can now see the invisible God. Just as the apostle Paul had firsthand experiences of being transported into the third heaven and receiving ineffable revelations, we too, can access the open Veil and enter the Spiritual Realm —and like Paul, share our testimonies of being transported into God’s Presence. The invisible Ark is no longer hidden; it is now revealed as the Risen Christ.
= THE FABRIC BY WHICH WE SEE GOD
“Here at the roaring loom of time I ply, weaving for God the garment thou seest Him by.“ ~JOHANN WOLFGANG VON GOETHE
“They overcame by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony.” The resurrected new man is empowered to make strides beyond the Veil and be transported into the holy echelons of the Almighty. Our testimonies of the Good News of Victory become the ‘fabric’ that robes the unseen Christ. We bless others in their quest to see God’s Presence; aiding them to see Jesus through the ‘fabric’ by which we see God. It’s time we robe Jesus as He is—the victorious Mighty Warrior King of Heaven and Earth Who revealed Himself to us so others may see and know Him too!
The first time Jesus came as a Servant, but His Second Coming is with the Majesty and Power of a King. Few recognized Him at His First Coming because He was dressed as a servant or worker. But this time He comes as King! “The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed, He has girded Himself with strength!” (PS 93:1-2) His Majesty is seen through our testimony—a ‘fabric’ woven with His divine insight, miracles and with our awe of what God has done for us.
Any ‘Move of God’ is by His Authority. God gave us a ‘key,’ symbolic of divine authority, prosperity, and power. The key unlocks an entryway into more knowledge, solutions to problems and the inspiration to walk out our purpose in Him.
In 2013, an angel spoke, “It’s time to put the House of God in Order.” Our focus has been “Proper Order” … and with our testimony, may we robe the ‘Coming One’ as ‘Mighty King.’ ‘When God Moves’—we are committed to move with Him and accomplish ‘His plan’ for us in the New Age.
