Question, Are We Connected To The Source? by David Roberts
Across the nation, even the casual observer can easily notice hundreds of church buildings with cemeteries. If asked to identify the cemetery, it might shock us to discover both the church building and the graveyards can BOTH be cemeteries.
For the same reasons, if we don’t move on properly, we can build vain imaginations and lives, out of alignment with previously established foundations. Children begin with fundamental counting and learning to connect the alphabet into phonetic sounds. As they grow, they don’t forget the knowledge they learned in the earlier grades, simply to go onto the next, yet they graduate in steps.
It’s self-illuminating when moving from eighth grade to ninth grade math, that we would carry everything we established from kindergarten through eighth grade, into the ninth grade, etc.
Being connected to the energy source has with it the privileges and benefits of having the power to execute and fulfill our purpose.
In the following thoughts, I’d like to explore one of the most fundamental Truths we seem to overlook, while attempting to do “great things for God”; ironically, He has more direct paths to reveal Himself in simplicity.
Remember, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want”?
Most of us have considered many times the differences in our needs and wants. We understand our wants come from a lack of understanding who we really are, or at least ‘whose’ we are (and what that means). Exactly where is the line between wants and needs? To answer this question, I ask myself what is my most fundamental need. The answer I come up with is usually something like, “Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” When I hear these words in my Spirit, I hear Life; a great revelation, where we discover everything was created by His Word, and all my needs are found in His Word that continues to proceed. To walk in this with power, we must press in… we must relate. Should we relate to one another? Yes, but not just because we have similar flesh and blood, with some of the same preferences. If we only view one another after the flesh, then we can never see as He sees.
True revelation is born when we are in Light (enlightened), able to relate to HIM. That’s worth saying again, “True revelation is born when in Light, as we relate to HIM.”
What if you were a tool?
Maybe a circle saw? …while failing to be plugged into a proper electrical outlet? Or, if you were plugged into the electrical outlet, maybe the main breaker was disconnecting you from the grid tied power?
What if you were a nail gun? …with the airline disconnected to a functioning compressor? Maybe it was plugged in but was switched off and the tank was empty, with no air to offer?
What if you were a battery-operated tool, maybe an impact gun or drill, yet didn’t have a functioning battery installed?
The list of ‘what if’s’ could seemingly go on endlessly but the truth is YOU ARE NOT ANY OF THOSE THINGS! You are His and you were fearfully and wonderfully created in His image, and that is marvelous!
I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex! Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord! Psalms 139:14 Passion
Why is it our soul is so quick to dismiss this powerful insight into God’s goodness, completely considering the end from the beginning? You were created in His image, fashioned for the moments we often try to pray to get ourselves out of. What if God were allowing the pressing to give us illumination of who we are now and that we cannot escape Him, no matter how high or low we perceive ourselves to be. After all, God has constantly cared for us, before we became who we are! Who else can rival Him?
Every single moment you are thinking of me! How precious and wonderful to consider that you cherish me constantly in your every thought! O God, your desires toward me are more than the grains of sand on every shore! When I awake each morning, you’re still with me. Psalms 139:17,18 Passion
If we advance to tenth grade, don’t be surprised if we are occasionally reminded of what we learned in our earlier years, forming the foundations from which all that advanced math is based.
Ask any coach what they teach first and they’ll answer it’s the fundamentals, and even professional athletes still do drills, to remind their bodies of what’s expected. Love is no different. We don’t advance beyond love and it’s not something we ascend to; Love is the very nature of God. Fundamentals should never leave us, even as we are perfected!
Now is the time for us to progress beyond the basic message of Christ and advance into perfection. The foundation has already been laid for us to build upon: turning away from our dead works to embrace faith in God, teaching about different baptisms, impartation by the laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. So with God’s enablement we will move on to deeper truths. Hebrews 6:1-3 Passion
If we ever forget, it may feel like you’ve failed but you haven’t!
What would your life look like if your faith were disconnected from the source that powers all creation?
I’ll tell you what it may look like. It looks like mine does sometimes; in want, trying to get my own inner-spiritual needs met, instead of serving others while trying to see how they can benefit me, surveying the land like a leaf awaiting the next wind to blow. That’s not God’s idea of the life He’s given you. God has in mind for you peace surpassing all your understanding. He has in store for you blessings and not curses. He has in your immediate future a fresh awakening of His Love, cutting off any remaining scales, to see clearly as He sees. He has His Mind for you. He has His Heart for you.
To communicate clearly, you are not disconnected from God! You are one with the Word because He said so. As we believe it, we begin to understand that we have the Source within, as part of who we are, being created in His image.
Those in want signal the universe they haven’t found the true Lover of their soul. Once we taste and see that the water from heaven is good, there’s no going back.
We can stop looking here and there to find the Source since He hid it in earthen vessels. Look in yourself and others.
Some more of those advantages and benefits are not having to worry about the law or breaking the law, because the law will be written on your heart. You would never covet your neighbors’ wife or steal from your neighbor if you see them through His eyes of Love. When God hides these treasures in earthen vessels, what that really means is that you won’t get this right all the time! Give yourself the grace and Love God extended before we knew Him!
It’s a Grace thing: It’s a beautiful thing that God has done!
“He humbled Himself and became vulnerable, choosing to be revealed as a man and was obedient. He was a perfect example, even in his death- a criminals death be crucifixion! Because of that obedience, God exalted him and multiplied his greatness! He has now been given the greatest of all names! The authority of Jesus causes every knee to bow in reverence!” Philippians 2:8-10a
There is nothing that could separate you or me from the love of God, which is in Him, which is in Christ Jesus.
Now, if I believe that I’m disconnected from Him what do we call them?
We call them lost, but are they?
They are certainly NOT lost from God! How would that even be possible? How would it be possible to win hide-n-seek against Him?
If I go up to heaven, you’re there! If I go down to the realm of the dead, you’re there too! Psalms 139:8 Passion
If you can’t hear, are you lost? If you are blind, are you lost? If you’re living in the land of the dead, you may be stumbling around, not knowing where you are, but it would be more correct to describe you as spatially unaware!
He knows exactly where you are and has already sent the cavalry of experiences (Spirit) to move and break the strongholds chaining us to non-permanent gods. He is determined to open your eyes of understanding, and continue your growth unto perfection, so we are more and more at home as we come sit at the table with God, while being used as ambassadors to bring others to His table.
“The realm of Heaven’s Kingdom is bursting forth and passionate people have taken hold of its power.” Mat 11:12 Passion
We’re not preaching a cotton candy Jesus. Because of our earthen nature, there may be times we look back, only to find we were praying against some of the trials that He allowed for specific purposes.
When a GPS system calculates your drive, it first must become honest about its present location. It does this through triangulation (good thing we paid attention in those earlier math classes). Next, we enter where we desire to go and the navigation system magically charts the course, re-routing each time we get off course. When our hearts are fixed on Him because we experienced His Love, the pathway isn’t simply to leave the cemetery, but it’s to head toward the Kingdom of God, as a lifestyle and resident of heaven, while occupying our earth suit.
Love the church.
Love God’s people.
Love all people and He will give you understanding and awareness our being one with the Source comes at a pretty high cost.
Since we earlier mentioned advantages and benefits, we should quickly discuss what many perceive as a negative for embracing sonship. In fact, we’ve all stumbled over this stone:
Just as He gave his only begotten son to the world, and they crucified Him, He also gives his sons to our worlds, our families, those in our careers and those at our occupations. Christ is in you, and you are here, so others can see Him. There is purpose in laying down our lives. Can we really believe we were created in His image, but our neighbor is not?
While taking advantage of all the wonderful benefits God’s given us, would it be a negative to lay our lives down, so others can find these same benefits? Of course, not; if we have the Love of God in our hearts, giving all we have to the generation is exactly the way God does it.
Can we simply hoard up what God does for us, without being moved to be like Him?
Too many well-meaning ministry leaders fall prey to legacy and lifting themselves up, rather than the Word in them.
“From this moment on, everything in this world is about to change, for the ruler of this dark world will be overthrown. And I will do this when I am lifted up off the ground and when I draw the hearts of people to gather them to me.” John 12:31,32
On the flip side of lifting Him up, what if we lift ourselves up? In these cases, instead of applying holy anointing oil to our heads, we embalm ourselves with embalming fluid, attempting to preserve self-interests or possibly build monuments of ourselves, making us our own god. God will always do His best work through His sons. In fact, that is how all spiritual fathers always manifest their ministry, through a son(s).
As long as we’re thinking more highly of ourselves than others, we will find thinking like this difficult to swallow, but if we esteem others higher than ourselves, we know we have the love of God in our hearts.
We can name any concoction holy anointing oil and apply it to our heads, but there’s only one holy anointing oil recipe. Attempting to preserve our own hopes and dreams, even if it’s reaching up to steady the ark, is in effect embalming fluid. In most cases we end up creating some system or organization that is created in our own image. Usually, it’s a graveyard, telling all passersby where we ceased living by the proceeding Words of God.
Why is it we can know all this wonderful revelation, yet it doesn’t seem to ‘click’ when it’s game day?
Well, I’ll tell you why. It’s because we’re human and as long as we occupy these bodies, we need love and grace. In fact, the idea we’re supposed to run around like robots violates the whole pattern our Father in Heaven established by lowering Himself to become a human.
The fact you are human makes you the perfect candidate for carrying His Light, because He nor I judge you anymore, based on the way you were known when we were children. Now, know yourself and others after the Spirit.
Serving you His Kingdom,
David Roberts
