“ONE ORDINARY NIGHT” by Karen A Roth
“An ordinary night with ordinary sheep and ordinary shepherds. And were it not for a God who loves to hook an ‘extra’ in front of the ordinary, the night would have gone unnoticed … But God dances amidst the common … The night was ordinary no more.” ~MAX LUCADO
On the First Christmas, shepherds tending their sheep in the fields near Bethlehem saw an angel standing before them, and the glory of the Lord surrounded the heavenly being. “And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: Glory to God in the highest, And on Earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
The shepherds witnessed the ‘extraordinary.’ In their excitement, they left their sheep and rushed to find Jesus. ‘Ordinary’ people knew something happened, and they want to participate.
The Holy Night of Christ’s Birth was an ‘extraordinary’ time. Everything about the blessed event was ‘ordinary’—even lowly. Christ the King is not born in a castle, but in a stable for animals… nor does He sleep in a cradle, but a manger that feeds animals. He came to ‘ordinary’ people.
= THINGS ANGELS DESIRE TO LOOK INTO
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” ~JOHN 1:14
Emile Wolfaardt wrote, “A little more than 2,000 years ago, God stepped onto our earth, pitched His tent and set up camp right in the middle of us all … In other words, the Word became flesh and pitched His tent among us. And when He did that … it was the most profound revelation of God man would ever know on this earth.”
‘Extraordinary’ things happened that Holy Night—things angels desired to look into. So, at the Birth of Christ, the heavenly host filled the skies God.
Some scholars refer to this scripture as depicting the angels on the Mercy Seat of the Ark of the Covenant overlooking a new form of the Word of God—Jesus, born as a babe in swaddling clothes—“the Word became flesh.”
= “PIVOTAL MOMENT IN HISTORY”
Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the City of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
~LUKE2:10-11
Everything in the Bible hinges on this one event happening! Since the days of Adam and Eve, prophecies pointed to God becoming flesh to redeem His creation.
The apostle Paul wrote: “We know that all creation has been groaning with the pains of childbirth up to the present time.” He saw the Church as huge with child and ready to give birth. Is this the second birth? Do we sense an urgency… that our time has come?
“The whole creation stands on tiptoe to see the sons of God come into their own.” After so many centuries, will God once again fulfill the ancient prophecies? Is this the awakening of His Christ in the Earth?
= AWAKENING OF THE SPIRITUAL TABERNACLE
“Get Ready”—It’s time to put God’s House in order! … Pray for the awakening of the Spiritual Tabernacle of God in the earth! … You will be part of what’s happening even though you are hidden in My House … Even if no one ever knows—you will know!” ~PROPHECY—OCTOBER 2013
In a vision, God showed Mary as a young maiden hidden in the house of Israel, and said, “Long before anyone knew that God was moving again in His people—Jesus was forming in Mary’s womb.”
Who was Mary compared to the government elite or the Levitical Priesthood? She was an ‘ordinary’ commoner at the bottom of their list of possible candidates. Yet the angel says, Mary “found favor with God … conceived … and brought forth a Son—JESUS.” She and her family knew something ‘extraordinary’ was happening in Israel and participated.
Although the Levitical priesthood studied the scriptures to learn when Christ would be born, they never imagined God would use an ‘ordinary’ or common girl to fulfill His grand purpose.
= ACTIVATING THE EXTRAORDINARY
There are powers inside of you which, if you could discover and use, would make everything you ever dreamed or imagined come true. ~ORISON SWETT MARDEN
Wise men from the East saw a new star in the sky and knew it meant something ‘extraordinary’ happened.’ They traveled a great distance to come to Jerusalem and address King Herod, to ask, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship him.”
What makes it really ‘extraordinary’ for us—foreigners (Gentiles) knew before the Israeli scholars, their government, or the Priesthood that Christ the King was born and where to find Him!
Recently something happened in our galaxy—the moon was the closest it’s been to the earth in 58 years. We won’t see this take place again for another 18 years. Those who seek divine illumination, collect these occurrences to observe them in the supernatural realm. Does it indicate a strong magnetic pull—a time of heightened awareness—a time when our ‘ordinary’ efforts become ‘extraordinary?’
How can ‘ordinary’ people like us be ready to participate with God in the ‘extraordinary’? We are everything God thought was good and necessary. When we breathed our first breath, we activated our bodies to become what God intended for this Age…
… But when we pray, we activate the Divine—the empowerment that transforms ‘ordinary’ things into ‘extraordinary.’ “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory!
