“A MORNING TRIP IN THE SPIRIT” by Dickey Porter
I want to relate a story to my friends and if you will give me a little license to use my words to try to explain what is going on in my spirit today, that will be great. These are thoughts and words that I shared with my wife as we sat around the breakfast table this morning.
Luke 9 – “Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. (2) And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.”
Some time elapsed and we see Jesus and the disciples with the multitudes and Jesus teaching them for 3 days and not wanting to send them away hungry, he told the disciples to feed the people. There were above 5000 at that great meeting and all they had to feed the people were 2 little fishes and 5 loaves of bread.
From this happening we get the ‘order of breaking bread’ as Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave to the disciples to distribute to the people. Then after everyone was filled and all the fragments were gathered of the leftovers (12 baskets of bread and fish), Jesus sent the people away and remained with his disciples.
Then in conversation with his disciples, Jesus asked them who the people said that he was. They answered that some thought that John the Baptist was raised from the dead and others thought that an old prophets was raised and that Jesus was one of them. Jesus then asked them directly who they thought that he was and Peter, with the great revelation that is recorded in our Bibles said – ‘thou art the Christ, the son of the living God.’
Then about 8 days (new beginnings) later, Jesus took Peter, James, and John, early one morning before the others were awake, up to the mount of Transfiguration and the glory of God that was within him, Father manifested in the natural visible world and then Peter, James, and John saw his aura. Not only that, but they also Moses and Elijah speaking with Jesus concerning his death on the cross which was yet to come.
While all this was going on, a man with a son that had a demon, came to the other disciples and asked them to cast the demon out of this young boy and the disciples could not. At this point in the story, I want you to look back up to Luke 9 and re-read the Scripture.
Jesus and his inner circle came back down from the mount about that time and the Father of the young boy came to Jesus and told him that he had brought his son to the disciples to cast out the demon and they could not.
I can almost sense the exasperation of Jesus as he says – ‘O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither.’ I think maybe that Jesus was looking at the other nine disciples when he uttered these words.
Later, after Jesus had cast the demon out of the lad and he was alone with his disciples, they asked him the question that we all have asked him at one point or another in our lives. Why could we not cast the demon out? (Why didn’t I get my healing when I prayed? Why didn’t you spare my loved one all the pain and suffering? Why me Lord?)
Jesus answered and said, ‘This kind can come forth by nothing , but prayer and fasting.’ My question to you is, what “kind” is Jesus talking about? I will give you the answer in the paragraphs below, so ponder this question before you look at the answer if you can.
Sometime between the feeding of the 5000 and the transfiguration of Jesus to Peter, James, and John, which came 8 days later, the disciples were walking along the way and a dispute arose among them and the dispute was this: Who is going to be the greatest among us?
As a matter of fact, Jesus asked them what they had disputed about along the way and they were afraid to answer him. Then he took a child and held him close and told the disciples that whoever wanted to be greatest in the kingdom of God, must be servant of all.. He said specifically ‘Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.”
The answer to what “kind” is this, is unbelief. Unbelief got into their heart when they allowed strife to enter into their relationships. When unbelief got in, power and authority to cast out demons and to heal the sick became paralyzed in them. It caused dis-ease in the spirit and whenever you have dis-ease in your spirit, the body manifests that as sickness, pain, and all sort of maladies.
What is the remedy? Fasting and prayer and a checking up of the relationships that we have with people. If we have wronged anyone, we must go to them in repentance and ask forgiveness. If someone has wronged us, we must forgive, even though they may never come to us. Remember that Love never fails and love should be the motivating force that drives us in the pursuit of our place and purpose in the kingdom of God.
Then at the end of our journey in this world, we will have our own ‘rapture’ as we depart the terrestrial glory and take on the celestial glory that was prepared for us before the foundation of the cosmos and we will then shine as the stars in the heavens throughout eternity, with Jesus always with us, and in us, as it was in the beginning.
Thank you for sensing my heart this morning. Much love to all of you and blessings coming your way.
