When we speak about sonship we are referring to a biblical principle that is evidenced many times in the Bible. Elijah and Elisha; Jesus and the 12; Paul and Timothy are a few of the patterns of this biblical principle.
In his groundbreaking work, “You Have Not Many Fathers”, Mark Hanby brought to light this biblical pattern. The foundation of spiritual inheritance in the Kingdom of God is found in the relationship of father and son. All too often those in ministry today have the heart of a hireling rather than the heart of a father but God is calling ministry to develop the true heart of a father.
It is the responsibility of God ordained ministry to raise up a generation of true sons and daughters to receive a double portion inheritance and anointing. As the prophet foretold, the heart of the fathers must be turned to the children and the heart of the children to their fathers lest God come and smite the earth with a curse.
For every truth there is a counterfeit and the principle of father/son order is no different. Some have used this pattern to gain a following, subject immature or unsuspecting followers into improper submission and to garner financial advantage at the expense of those they were meant to serve. A true father is a servant not a lord and a true son’s spiritual advancement is the object of the heart of every true father rather than the advancement of his ministry or the increase of his finances.
Father/son order is about the advancement of the Kingdom and the discovery for every person of their unique connection in the unfolding generations of God’s purpose. In the natural every father was once a son and every mother was once a daughter. The bond between parent and child is perhaps the strongest bond in all of nature. It is a bond that likewise is present in ministry, as it was with Jesus and his disciples. To be clear, when we are speaking of biblical principle of father/son order we are speaking about a spiritual order. It is the order of ministry. A true ministry father does not keep the ministry sons checkbook or bring the son into emotional bondage or act as an intermediary between God and the son.
God is our Father. It is He alone to whom all glory and worship belongs. The worship of man never equates to the worship of God. There are five things that only the generation connection of father and son can bring in there fullness. These are, identity, purpose, vision, inheritance and blessing. Many Christians do not understand their true identity, they lack purpose, cannot see the plan of God, desire material goods over the true inheritance of God and have no one to bestow a spiritual blessing that connects them to their destiny.
If you are awakened to the desire for ministry order then pursue God and acquaint yourself with all the spiritual resources available. Only God can awaken and He does it in His time not ours. You do not have to labor, God will bring the order to pass.
